Foreign (non-Korean) scholars are expected to present about the Korean Wave, but &#8216;value of Asian traditional music&#8217; is welcomed also. All papers presented will be printed in English journal\u00a0\u00a0Asian Musicology for special issue for Korean Wave and Values of Asian Traditional Music.<br><br>The Conference will be held in Hochiminh Vietnam and followed by a cultural tour of the Hochiminh city, which is known for its well-preserved historical and cultural heritages.<br><br>Meals, accommodation and the tour of Hochiminh city shall be offered by the host organizations. This event takes the place of the now postponed sixth biennial IMSEA conference in Daegu, Korea (rescheduled to 2022), and is intended to provide a forum specifically for junior scholars to share their research internationally during the current calendar year.&nbsp;<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-columns is-layout-flex wp-container-core-columns-is-layout-5 wp-block-columns-is-layout-flex\">\n<div class=\"wp-block-column is-layout-flow wp-block-column-is-layout-flow\" style=\"flex-basis:100%\">\n<p><em>Eligibility for participation:<\/em>&nbsp;Presenters must be music researchers who are enrolled in a doctoral study program or have received their doctoral degrees no earlier than 2016. They need not reside, work, or study in East Asia; however, as there will be no conference registration fee, they must be members of IMS or have signed up for membership by the event\u2019s starting date.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-columns is-layout-flex wp-container-core-columns-is-layout-6 wp-block-columns-is-layout-flex\">\n<div class=\"wp-block-column is-layout-flow wp-block-column-is-layout-flow\" style=\"flex-basis:100%\">\n<p><em>Conference theme:<\/em>&nbsp;We invite proposals for presentations in any topic of musical scholarship, but especially encourage and will give preference to submissions which discuss the musicological discipline in East Asia. Possible areas include the following, which however is not an exhaustive list:<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n\n\n\n<p>&#8211;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;past, present, and future research directions and methodologies<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>&#8211;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;research materials (archives, digital resources, ethnographic resources, etc.)&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>&#8211;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;institutional practices and conventions<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>&#8211;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;representative topics of scholarship<\/p>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-columns is-layout-flex wp-container-core-columns-is-layout-7 wp-block-columns-is-layout-flex\">\n<div class=\"wp-block-column is-layout-flow wp-block-column-is-layout-flow\" style=\"flex-basis:100%\">\n<p><em>Conference languages:&nbsp;<\/em>Any language of presentation is welcome, however presentations in English are strongly encouraged in order to facilitate discussion and exchange of ideas. (Note that the choice of language will not impact the likelihood of an abstract\u2019s acceptance. If the presentation is to be given in a language other than English, then we recommend that an English translation be displayed on-screen or distributed via a Word or PDF file.)&nbsp;<strong><em>Abstracts must be written in English for the purposes of the program committee\u2019s review.<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-columns is-layout-flex wp-container-core-columns-is-layout-8 wp-block-columns-is-layout-flex\">\n<div class=\"wp-block-column is-layout-flow wp-block-column-is-layout-flow\" style=\"flex-basis:100%\">\n<p>Each speaker will be allotted thirty minutes, with twenty minutes for the presentation and ten minutes for Q&amp;A.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-columns is-layout-flex wp-container-core-columns-is-layout-9 wp-block-columns-is-layout-flex\">\n<div class=\"wp-block-column is-layout-flow wp-block-column-is-layout-flow\" style=\"flex-basis:100%\">\n<p><br><strong><em>Deadline for&nbsp;<\/em><\/strong><strong><em>sub<\/em><\/strong><strong><em>mission of abstracts:&nbsp;<\/em><\/strong><strong>15 May 2021<\/strong>.
